A few BCC’ers headed to the Wandsworth Town Hall Civic Suite for nibbles with the mayor last night as the club was shortlisted for Club/Organisation of the year at the Active Wandsworth Awards. Up against some clubs with very impressive kids sections it was observed that we were the only nominated club who’s aims were partly to get away from the kids for a couple of hours.
The awards evening interlude included a spot of fencing which is a lot more of an interesting photo than BCC’ers quaffing cheap wine.
We were genuinely chuffed to be shortlisted. It’s worth noting that at only two years old we were the youngest club by far that was in the final five. Congrats to Balham FC who won the category.
Here’s the story of how a niche local history blog that morphed into a cycling club.
